Answer - it is an organisation launched to help bring more live folk, acoustic, traditional and other quality live music to Central Lancashire. The idea has it's roots in a Maddy Prior and the Girls concert in April 2005. It was promoted under the banner of ‘Preston Grey Power Promotions’.

The evening was such a tremendous success that it was decided to continue to organise more concerts in Central Lancashire. Therefore ‘Grey Power’ gave way to a rather more descriptive title of ‘Friends of Folk’.

The biggest motivation for launching this initiative was the tremendous feedback received following the first concert and all the gigs organised since.

These have included a variety of artists and venues with dramatically different capacities. All (well almost all!) have been a joy to organise - whether it be 100 at the Worden Arts Centre or 900 at Preston Guild Hall. There has been the same objectives for all, that people should enjoy their evening listening to, and sometimes joining in with, great musicians.

In 2008 a new venture was launched – FoF Promotions which works with a limited number of artists promoting their gigs across the UK.  Successful tours in 2009 were for Abbie Lathe & The Lovelies and Ken Nicol & Phil Cool.  2010 will again see Ken Nicol & Phil Cool on tour and also, very excitingly, Ashley Hutchings & Ken Nicol will be touring to launch their new joint CD ‘Copper, Russet and Gold’.  Bookings are also invited for Chris & Siobhan Nelson, an excellent duo who never fail to entertain.  For more information go to the Promotions website - click here for more details.
